Spring and Summer 2010 Course Leaflet

For the first piece of work we produced for the studio, we wanted to immediately place Spike Print in the wide world of art. We used a line spoken by Jeff Koons on the front, and moved all the essential information about the studio into a central focal point, helped by the unusual format and folding of the leaflet. The linocutters on the back were inspired by a series of photos Walker Evans took of common tools for Fortune Magazine. The leaflet was then printed in two spot colours, a small nod to printmaking.

Impact 6 Print Conference Delegate Pack

Impact is an international print conference in its tenth year. We were asked by the University of the West of England (where Impact originated and returns to this anniversary year) to produce the 150 page delegate pack to include schedules, paper abstracts, panel overviews, maps and further information.

We also designed and screenprinted the front cover which is a play (straight steal) on Robert Rauschenberg’s Automobile Tire Print, fitting for a print conference but doubly so because of Impact’s 10th year ‘homecoming.’

Robert Manners Website

Robert Manners is an artist, curator and sash-window-refurbisher by day. His work spans mediums and it was a real pleasure designing a site around such strong imagery.

Spike Print Studio website

Working with an existing Wordpress install, we re-skinned and restructured the Spike Print Studio website to include a member’s gallery where members can control the content of their own pages. The SPS site also featured a members forum and improved navigation.

21st Century Learning Initiative Website

Chesapeake have been working with The Initiative for almost a decade. Their website is our pride and joy. The culmination of numerous overhauls and reappraisals, it now provides all the key information right up front, sifted from 500 plus pages of text and hundreds more PowerPoint presentations, PDFs and Word Documents. All in the steady hands of Wordpress.

Karen Mead

Karen works large. We shot a number of her prints for her website, and some of her linocuts are over 2 metres on their longest edge. The image above is mixed-media on sail cloth.

Rebecca Telford website

Rebecca Telford’s screenprints have always been a joy to us, so we were chuffed when Rebecca asked us to put a website together for her. Simplicity was the name of the game, as her fantastic work needs little ornamentation.

Victoria Chalmers Website

Victoria Chalmers is a painter, whose work we admire. So making this was a treat. We also photographed a number of her lovely drawings and paintings.

Neon Website

Neon are a what’s-on digital guide to Bath and Bristol, spearheaded by two social-leading-lights who asked us to put together a home for their reviews, guides and commentary. Definitely the place to go if you’re home alone on Friday night with nothin’ doin’…

Hanne Rysgaard

Hanne is a ceramacist working below us in Blaze. Her slipcast milk cartons are must-have items and we’re awfully pleased to be able to help her take over kitchens everywhere.

Clarity BioSolutions Identity

Clarity BioSolutions asked us to develop their identity in addition to designing and launching their website. We felt Avenir would do the job typographically: clean, clear and bold. In initial discussions a drop of water was mentioned; we refined the idea and hey presto!
